Northern Skeet Diary Update by Chris Lancaster –23 April 2007
Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 April
First England Skeet Team Selection Shoot
This was held at Nottingham and District Gun Club. The weather not as forecast as it was cold and overcast and, as ever, breezy making the target testing on both days!
There were a total of nineteen squads at this event and out of the nineteen squads there were four 100 straights on the first day and eleven on the second day. Two of those were shot by our region's shooters.
Robert Jones yet again headed the Northern Region Shooters and held his metal on the last squad out. Robert shot 198 (98 and 100) which places him joint first in the veterans category with Joe Kitson.
Steve Leppington who also shot on the last squad out shot 197 (100 and 97) which places him in the top eleven. Barry Bell, the youngest! from Cumbria shot his first selection shoot extremely well with 195 (98 and 97) and Andrew Parsons shot consistently with194 (96 and 98) which doesn't rule either of them out of a team place if they shoot well at Southern Counties.
Sue Tyas shot extremely well earning the second placing in the Ladies over the week-end with 191 (96 and 95) and Chris Lancaster just one behind on 190 (95 and 95).
Junior Sam McGonigal also shot very well with 192 (96 and 96) which earned him eighth place in his category.
Well done to all our shooters and Good Luck for the second selection to be held at Southern Counties in July.
