NEW DATE FOR NOE SKEET SELECTION
Update by Eric Bell - skeet manager.
Owing to driving snow at Bywell only 20 people out of 45 shot a full round at the NOE selection shoot.
Phil Thompson has kindly agreed to hold an additional shoot on the 15th June With the agreement of the chairman Wallace Sayer.
The scores at Bywell will still stand and the new format will be the best 3 scores out of 5 which seems to be the fairest way.
Skeet Selection in Blizzard Conditions - Report by Sue Tyas.
The first NoE Skeet Team Selection shoot took place at Bywell on Sunday 6th April in what started out as bad weather conditions which quickley deteriorated! Thick snow followed the driving hail and bitter cold.
The early squads out managed to complete a very difficult 100 but the following squads were called in after 2 rounds by the ground owner.
After much waiting around most competitors decided to reclaim their entries and make a long journey home leaving only 2 squads to brave the elements. But with two rounds still to shoot one referee announced he'd 'had enough' and walked off! (Thought the Scotts were supposed to be tough?!)
It now remains for skeet team manager, Eric Bell, to decide whether these scores will count in the selection or whether another venue will be added. Watch out for details.
So, many congratulations to joint high guns, Robert Jones and newcomer Lee Jackson, who both managed 99 in those unbelievable conditions. Well done also to Roger Beaumont who took A class on 97 and Sue Tyas and Dave Barratt who shared B class (and frost-bite) on 90!
Skeet elite - make space!
Great to see Lee Jackson, a relative newcomer to skeet, share high gun at Bywell on 6 April with an oustanding score of 99 in the Arctic conditions. Lee, who only did his first registered competition in January has already posted two 100s, two 99s and a 98. Plus, he now has the Bywell club record after shooting 300 straight on the same day! Can't wait to see what he does with a bit more practice!
