NoE SKEET SUCCESSES. by Sue Tyas

England Skeet Team Hat-Trick by the North!

Three skeet shooters from the northern region have made it on to the 2008 England Team.

Outstanding scores from the selection shoots held at Doveridge and Nottingham secured team places for Lee Jackson in the seniors, Chris Lancaster in the ladies and Robert Jones in the veterans. The weather was terrible at both venues and the competition very fierce which has made their achievement all the more impressive.

In his first attempt at trying for a team place, Lee made top spot by taking overall high gun on a score of 398 ex 400. Amazing considering he only took up the discipline at the beginning of the year. Just shows what can be done with skill, determination and nerves of steel !!

Fresh from winning the English Open Ladies title only two weeks previous, Chris made sure no one could take the lead she had established at Derby by scoring 100 straight on the first day in Nottingham. This was first class shooting as out of 16 squads there were only two tons posted on that day in the hideous conditions, the other being from Lee Jackson. This wil be the second England cap for Chris.

And last, but certainly not least, very well shot by Robert who's dedication to the sport and consistent high scoring has paid off yet again with another team place.

Congratulations to all three. The northern region are very proud of you and wish you well (and high scores!!) at the Home International to be held at Lakenheath.
