2008 BRITISH OPEN SKEET - LEE TAKES THE CROWN !
Northern skeet shooter Lee Jackson won the British Open on his first attempt at Doveridge on Sunday August 10th. His perfect 100, scored on Saturday, took him into a short-lived shoot-off on Sunday where he quickly disposed of his rivals (100+25+8).
This victory will crown a very impressive first year of competition skeet for Lee who also made the England Team in high gun position. This remarkable young man from County Durham is a true ambassador for our sport as he has amazing skill, determination and above all is totally focused to win.
It was also an extremely successful weekend for our other Northern Region shooters including Linda Pearson who shot an outstanding 99, in very windy conditions, to take 2nd place in the Ladies competition. Robert Jones also found himself in runner up position with a 99 in the Veterans. Young Stephen Toward made his debut for the NoE Junior Team by shooting a 97 and winning C Class overall, taking 3rd place in Colts and along with his team mates Sam McGonigal and Scot Heathfield was 2nd in the Junior Team. And, last but by no means least, an outright win for the NoE Senior Team comprising: Lee Jackson, James Tinkler, Dave Hornby, Andy Parsons, Mark Hunter, Steve Leppington, Gary Cooke, Kevin Kilty, Barry Bell and James Perry.
Very well shot and congratulations to you all.
Thanks must also go to sponsors D Barratt Ltd and Charter Design for providing the badges and polo shirts for the team. LEE JACKSON BRITISH OPEN SKEET CHAMPION
