YORKSHIRE MEMBERS - PLEASE READ.
At the recent North of England regional committee meeting it was proposed that the members living in the Yorkshire area be balloted to once more consider the re-introduction of the four county areas of North, South, East and West Yorkshire as separate counties instead of the one county of Yorkshire as it stands today.
The original reason for doing away with the four counties was to:-
1. Help shooting grounds to have less championships to run, as with some of the disciplines only two shooters would attend and therefore make a mockery of the championship and badge.
2. With one county of Yorkshire it would make it a worthwhile championship to win and there would be a larger entry.
3. Some people have expressed the opinion that they were mis-informed or did not understand the previous ballet paper.
4. It would increase the amount of championships by threefold for the Yorkshire area and therefore increase revenue for the region.
I would like you to put this both in the magazine and onto the web site. The North Region Committee are intending to hold a ballot later in the year for all the 1600+ members in Yorkshire for their opinion for which the North Region will have to pay.
I personally think it should stay as it is for at least three years to allow members to get used to the present vote which was only introduced last year but this was voted out by the rest of the committee with one or two exceptions.
As you can see this is a bit of a hot potatoe and we are inviting comment from the members before we post out the ballot papers.
