MID WALES XMAS SHOOT 2009 by Dave Lea

The annual Christmas shoot held at Mid Wales was here again (Sunday 13th
December), it an annual reminder that there's not long to go before we see
that big man in red again !

Attendance is always good for this Christmas shoot and the atmosphere is
something a little special. 26 squads of shooters would agree with this as
they fought for some excellent Christmas prizes.

Thanks to the Williams family for making this a most welcoming event -
mulled wine and mince pies were in abundance, which were enjoyed by many a
shooter on this cold winter day.

The light began to fail near the end of the shoot after putting through 26
squads, but in less than favourable light conditions, top English shooter
Paul Chaplow went out on one of the last squads and finished his day on an
incredible 100/299 and took a festive hamper of meats, wines and spirits
home.

Welsh shooter Phil Morgan and English shooter Shane Smith - shared the
runners up spot overall (first place in AA class) - hot on the heals of Paul
Chaplow with scores of 100/298 each. EL Davies (100/296) and I Ainsley
(99/296) took joint third in AA class.

In A class J Clarke, PA Hodges and B Jones shared first place - all scoring
99/295.

In B class J Clarke won with 98/290. SA Jones took second place in B class
with 97/288.

In C class the winner was JL Richards with 93/275. In second place was RC
Jones with 94/273.
